Who we are and why we're involved in SCIPE.
Board of Directors
Carol Burt, PGCert, BA (Hons), RGN, DipSW, DipHE.
Carol is a highly experienced health & social care professional with executive-level expertise. She has a strong belief that services should be effective, efficient and of a high quality standards and more importantly accessible for all members or groups of the local community. SCIPE CIC is an opportunity for Carol to connect and be involved in shaping and affecting change in service delivery and design moving away from a dependancy model to an empowerment model where 'people are seen as a resource and not a problem'.
Nicola Brough, MPhil, BA (Hon.) EBA, RMT, BCST.
Nicola is a complementary medicine practitioner and is passionate about supporting people with their health and well-being and assisting them in reaching their full potential. She has a degree in European Business Administration and has worked in management training and job profiling sectors in Australia and voluntary sector here in the UK. Having lived overseas and traveled extensively, she is now living locally and would like to give something back to the community by supporting SCIPE CIC. She has recently completed a research study into 'Clients experiences of Craniosacral therapy' (2012) and she is currently doing a PhD, designing an outcome measure for the use with craniosacral therapy at The University of Warwick, Warwick Medical School.
Ian Nugent, BEng. (Hon.).
Ian is a fully qualified electronic engineer. He has a strong sense of community instilled in him by the actions of his parents, who have always been involved in local Afro-Caribbean community projects since the 1970s. On returning to Stoke-on-Trent after living away from the area for 13 years, Ian sensed a lack of community cohesion. It was Ian's passion for music and the idea for a community event which eventually led to the founding of SCIPE CIC.
Sharon Harvey (McCausland), RGN.
Sharon has a fundamental interest in people which is apparent from her chosen career path. She left Stoke-on-Trent at 18 years old to pursue her career as a Registered General Nurse where she specialized in Elderly Care. She is currently employed as a Purser for British Airways where she revels in meeting a wide variety of people from 'all walks of life' every time she goes to work.Sharon feels that she wants to put something back into the area, re-energising the community that she came from. SCIPE CIC is the ideal organisation for Sharon to be a part of, as she grew tired of social gatherings that involved going to the cemetery first and felt that she would like to get her old friends together, meeting in more positive circumstances.
